| Position Overview: |
| In accordance with the school’s mission statement, core educational values and policies, teachers at Valor Christian High School are charged with academically and spiritually preparing students to achieve excellence in all their endeavors.

| Essential Job Functions: |
- Teach effectively for appropriate levels and courses within subject area for grades 9-12
- Live out and model an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ
- Create a classroom environment and learning activities that encourage student involvement and participation.
- Vary teaching methods and adapt to students’ abilities to maximize learning
- Prepare educational lesson plans and related study which are fully engaging and which meet the spiritual, and academic needs of students
- Integrate a Biblical worldview into teaching
- Constructively and collaboratively assess and address students’ learning to maximize their progress
- Relate to, understand and connect with students, parents and community
- Maintaining accurate and timely records for both grades and attendance
- Engaging in ongoing communication with parents
- Willingness to collaboratively assess writing, develop rubrics, and plan instructional units

| Secondary Duties and Responsibilities: |
- Assist the other members of the department, the rest of faculty and the Valor administration as appropriate
- Adhere to and give constructive input to policies and procedures established by Valor
- Attendance at several school events which occur outside the regular school day

| Education: |
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a discipline closely related to the subject to be taught.
- A Master’s Degree in the subject matter is preferred.
- Valor will require and assist all new hires in becoming ACSI certified during their first year of employment
- Solid biblical and theological foundation
|
| Experience: |
- Any experience in the subject field will be considered.
- High School teaching experience preferred.
|
| Skills and Abilities: |
- Possess an in-depth knowledge of subject to be taught
- Desire to advance and grow in subject field
- Invest in ongoing personal spiritual growth and transformation
- Love for teens and a desire to personally invest in their spiritual, emotional and social maturation
- Able to teach multiple grade levels
- Able to teach a wide range of courses and subjects within discipline (i.e. Standard college preparatory courses, Honors courses, AP courses)
- Able to assess student progress both formatively and summatively
- Able to adjust instructional methods to meet the learning needs of students adn the educational culture of Valor
- Able to effectively communicate the gospel of Jesus Christ in varying contexts
- Emotional, spiritual health, stability and social skills to effectively interact and collaborate with teachers, parents, and administrators
- Moral, ethical and spiritual character which will be attested to by multiple references
- Has a skill set and knowledge base which allows for the individual to teach multiple levels/disciplines within the subject
- Skilled in employing discovery-based, hands-on instruction within the field of Mathematics
- Commitment to working across the curriculum to strengthen student performance in and application of mathematics
